Soul of the Earth Village
Where Families Learn Together
For a while I thought I was going to open a school.
But the more I sat with it… the more I realized something wasn’t feeling aligned. There was resistance, and not the kind that leads to growth, but the kind that says, this isn’t it.
It felt forced.
I think I initially wanted it because I see so many incredible alternative schools and learning spaces that already exist, people doing truly beautiful work, people I’m deeply inspired by. But the more I listened, and the more I prayed for clarity, the more I heard that the stirring inside me wasn’t a school at all.
It was something different.
A village, where families can stay together in the learning process, instead of separating learning into “children here” and “adults there.”
Soul of the Earth Village is a seasonal, land-based learning village where children and families come together to learn through connection, rhythm, and hands-on experience.
It is a space where learning is not separate from life.
Where children can be outside, moving, exploring, creating, and building real skills.
Where we learn not only from guides, experts, and wisdom keepers, but from the parents within the community as well, creating space for homeschooling parents to share their knowledge, not as something held privately, but as something that can be lived, shared, and offered in a way that also supports their families.
And where families are invited to stay connected — not just at the beginning and end of the day, but throughout the learning experience itself.
Current Offerings
Spring Outdoor Education Series (8 Weeks)
This first offering is an 8-week, small-group outdoor education program that invites children into a hands-on, immersive experience in nature where they will build practical outdoor skills, deepen their connection to the land, and grow in confidence navigating wild spaces.
While Soul of the Earth Village will continue to grow with seasonal offerings, this series focuses on foundational nature connection and earth-based skills.
Each week follows a natural rhythm that includes:
• Sit spot (quiet observation in nature)
• Mapping and awareness skills
• Seasonal plant and wildlife exploration
• Practical outdoor skills (fire, tracking, harvesting, etc.)
• Closing circle or song
Note: Activities are seasonal and weather-dependent and may shift based on what is unfolding on the land.
WHAT CHILDREN WILL EXPERIENCE
Fire building & safety
Shelter building & land awareness
Plant identification & herbal connection
Tracking, movement & nature-based games
Storytelling, crafts, and seasonal rhythms
Children will leave the program not just with knowledge, but with confidence, connection, and a deeper sense of belonging in the natural world.

Kailey is a mama of two, nature lover, and lifelong explorer of land and water. With a background in ecosystem management, habitat restoration, and outdoor education, she is passionate about helping families reconnect with nature beyond the classroom.
She grew up wandering the Highland Creek and Rouge River watersheds; camping, paddling, and exploring wild places across Canada, which shaped her deep respect for plants, animals, and the rhythms of the land.
Rooted in a love of gardening, food systems, and time spent on farms, she carries forward traditions learned from her mother and grandmother.
Today, she blends her connection to nature with yoga and somatic practices, creating space for both kids and adults to slow down, tune in, and rediscover their place in the natural world.

Maya will bring animal pelts, wings, and sacred items to share, offering a rare opportunity to experience these teachings in a tangible and meaningful way.
This gathering will also include:

About the Village
Hi, I’m Brit, the heart behind Soul of the Earth Village.
I’m a mother of two, a breathwork facilitator, and someone deeply devoted to ceremony, rhythm, and creating spaces where families can come back into connection, with themselves, each other, and the Earth.
For many years, I’ve been holding spaces through breathwork, ceremony, and community gatherings. This work has shaped the way I listen, how I hold others, and how I support people in coming back into their bodies and what feels true.
Soul of the Earth Village was born through my own journey of homeschooling, unlearning, and following what felt aligned for my family. It continues to evolve as I listen to what is needed, both for children and for the adults who are walking alongside them.
My role here is to hold the container, to weave rhythm, support the guides who share their gifts, and help nurture a space where connection to land, learning, and community can deepen over time.
You’ll often find me present in the background of the space, supporting where needed, holding ceremony when called for, and tending to the ongoing weaving of this village.
